Front Side Bus

Is it possible to put a P4 3.2GHZ 800MHZ Front Side Bus CPU into a
motherboard which states that it only supports 533/400MHZ FSB?

The 3.2GHZ is fine, but not the Front side bus. I spoke to the intel
people and they "don't recommend it" which is all i
thought'd they say, however - there are some people here that know
infinately more than them.

Thank-you very much to anyone that can answer,

Kasper.

If your motherboard meets required power specification - IE: Prescott
ready for a Prescott CPU - the system should work fine but underclocked. The
multiplier on P4 is locked so a 3.2 ghz (or 16 x 200QDR*) will work like a
2.133 one (16 x 133.3QDR) on a 533mhz FSB limited motherboard.

*200mhz QDR (Quadruple Data Rate) = 800mhz system bus, 133 = 533 and
respectively.

Thanks VERY much,

What about this combo

INTEL D845GVFN MICRO ATX - Issue Max only support
3.06ghz and 533 front bus
INTEL P4 3.2GHZ CPU-3.20GHZ/512/800/SL6W

Thanks, for being so helpful and fast
I'm surprised i've never found this site before. It might save me lot
of money

This mobo supports northwood (your choice) and prescott, should have no
problems but underclock and no HT support.
Are u buying this combo? I suppose u have the motherboard and are
looking for a new processor. Is it too hard to find a 3.06 Northwood 533mhz
FSB?
If u actually have this mobo, don?t waste your money. Get this:

I have 25 of those mobos, and 25 of those cpus

Should I - which i can do - get other cpu chips? I got these ones fo
a very good price, however i guess i ca
get the different one's if i pay a little extra

I should also note, that the computer/s will only be used for offic
work. ie. no games, just microoffice, internet

Sorry, for being so difficult

Wow!
If u already have them, enjoy! :)
They?re more than enough for office use even at 2.133ghz. If u want to
sell a couple or 2....! ;-)
Sorry my bad english, here on Brasil we speech portuguese.

Also totally unclear. What are 'these mobos', or 'those cpus'.
What is your problem? Without context your message is totally
useless. Usenet is asynchronous, so there is no guarantee that
your reader has ever, or ever will, see any other particular
message. Thus you have to make your message stand by itself. That
means proper context.

Hey Kasper, do u wanna sell some of those "bastards" for a affordable
price? :)
I?ve some Shuttle MoBos 800mhz FSB which does not support Prescott.
They together would be a nice budget combo to sell here on Brasil.
People love Intel but usually goes AMD for lower cost.
If u like the idea, contact me.
Thanks!

Whichever is cheaper. Motherboard, usually. You can recover most of
your investment by reselling them.
