did you plug it in?

You cant usually have the back port and front ports working at the same time, its usually one or the other, usually jumper controlled... well thats how it is with the Asus P4P800ED

I can have both on my mobo, but i need to know what that pin is

I use a Gigabyte board, and I cannot connect the front mic/headphones whilst i am using the rear ports. The three ports at the rear of the pc are set to 5.1 surround....so if i were to change the jumpers and connect the front connectors, they would act as speaker outputs for the surround sound, unless i set the sound up for simple stereo.

So, as far as i am aware you cannot have both front and rear connected at the same time.
What motherboard are you using anyway?

My DFI board lets me use both front and rear though obviously not at the same time ;)

We need to know the motherboard number, I see from your sig it's a Gigabyte board. I have a couple of Gigabyte 7N400A Pro 2's, and I cannot use both front and rear audio connectors on those.

It all depends on the board.

It is a 95655FX-L, i dont know about mic, but i have the speakers plugged into the back, and headphones in the front and they both work fine.

There are no more pins to jump, i have gone through the manual.

MoBo Pins;

Mic
GND
REF
Power
Front Audio (R)
Rear Audio (R)
N/A
N/A
Front Audio (L)
Rear Audio (L)

Case Pins;

GND - Front audio ground
Mic IN - Front Microphone input signal
MIC VCC - Filtered +5V used by analog audio circuts

OUT/R - Front right audio
N/A
OUT/L - Front left audio

RET R - Rear right audio
RET L - rear left audio

[got above from case][they dont list the firewire pins...]
-------------------------

OK, so this is what i did;

MIC -> MIC IN
GND -> GND
REF -> **NO PIN**
Power -> MIC VCC
Front Audio (R) -> OUT R
Rear Audio (R) -> RET R
N/A
N/A
Front Audio (L) -> OUT L
Rear Audio (L) -> RET L

-----------------------------
Speakers work fine, Back MIC works, front MIC does not.

any ideas?

Thanks,

KGB
