Front loading printer

Mike

Hi,

I am looking to buy a new printer as a gift for somebody. They don't need
anything fancy - just a basic inkjet that's going to be easy to use and
maintain and, hopefully, last a while. They won't be printing photos - just
letters and documents.

The printer will, however, have to be front loading, because it will be
located on a shelf which doesn't give enough "headroom" for a sheet of A4.

I used to have a HP model that was frontloading, with both the input and the
output pages using a tray at the front, but that model probably only exists
in museums now. Can anybody recommend a basic, cheap and reliable front
loading printer?

Many thanks.

THE CANON IP4200 MEETS YOUR REQUIREMENTS. WHILE IT IS A DUEL LOADING
FULL DUPLEX PRINTER YOU CAN CLOSE THE AUTO SHEET FEEDER (TOP) TOTALLY
FLAT. YOU CAN THEN USE THE BOTTOM FRONT LOADING CASSETTE TRAY. YOU CAN
AUTOMATICALLY PRINT BOTH SIDES OF THE PAPER AT ONCE OR SINGLE SIDES.
THE PRINT QUALITY IS GOOD. THE SISTER CANON PRINTER (IP5200) SHOULD
PRINT BUSINESS DOCUMENTS BETTER AND DOES NOT COST THAT MUCH MORE.

TO REDUCE THE RISK OF CLOGS USE GENUINE CANON INK CARTS.

IF YOU EVER WANT TO PRINT PHOTOS THE PRINTER DOES HAVE THAT CAPABILITY ALSO.

The Canon Pixma line (at least 3000/3200 anyways) has lower cassette. I
have an ip5000 which has a lower paper cartridge, which I in facy have
fitted with Letter paper.

The printer sits 7" high, with the tops closed. You do need access to
the top to service the inside (change carts and that) however.

Oh, you said letters and documents. That in my eye means you want a
Laser, so I cannot help much. IME, most load from the top and spit out
the front, or in the front, out the top. Who knows, there might be one.
