If all your accounts are aliases for one mailbox, WinMail will use
the default account when replying.
Perhaps not if they're not both with VZ. When I switched to VZ DSL I
closed my old dial-up ISP account but pay them a small fee to
divert/forward to VZ the e-mail addressed to my old address, which I
wanted to keep "live" after 25 years of use. For some reason I have
to have Windows Mail configured for both accounts to receive the
diverted e-mails. The VZ one is set as the default. But every time I
do a Forward the From box is filled with the old account name.
Clicking on the From box brings a drop-down where I have to select the
Verizon account. (If I don't, the Forward goes to the old ISP which
of course does nothing with it because that account is closed.) I've
tried altering the account names so that the VZ one is first
alphabetically and that doesn't help either. Forwards always default
to the old ISP account. New mail has the correct VZ name in the From
box. I had the same problem on my XP machine.
It just occurred that it may be possible to reconfigure the settings
for the old account so that outgoing mail uses the VZ settings. I'll
have to look into that but it still doesn't explain why Mail defaults
to the non-default account on Forwards.
