Frequently Used Programmes

In my version of windows ME i had the option of only
displaying my "most frequently Used Programmes" from my
START menu which meant more screen space and it looked
tidier. Is this option avaliable on Windows XP and if so
how do i select it.

Would this be it? (from another post):

My Recent Documents. Rt click on
Start>Select Properties>Start Menu-Customize>Advanced
Check the "List my most frequently open documents" Box.

I think perhaps you mean the "use personalized menus" option. You can
find this in the Start Menu/Taskbar options (either right-click on the
taskbar and choose Properties or go to the applet in Control Panel).

Also, it is worth a r-click on Start - Properties - Customise. There:
Select Small Icons
Put the Number of programs up (I use 15)
Uncheck Internet Browser and Email, which you probably have in Quick
Launch

With those changes the way in which the left side of start reflects
programs you have recently used starts to have real value. And if you
like you can use TweakUI to inhibit things you *don't* want from
appearing there
