frequent random disconnects and reconnects HELP!!

setup: win xp sp2, dlink 514 wireless router, plugged into (not
wireless,ethernet) a motorolla cable modem.

at random and often, I will loose connection (sys tray says cable is
unplugged) and 1-2 seconds later it reconnects and connection is
fine(altough sometimes i have to resart the router).

this keeps occuring seveal times an hour. I have turned xp firewall on
and off, no change. checked cable, good.

any ideas????

Recently had a very similar problem....turned out to be a bad cable modem.

Could be a provider issue. Call their tech support and they can check your
line to see if there are any issues.
Other than that, try to un-install the modem in Device Manager and
re-install it. Also, an update of the drivers may help.
