Frequent Freezes A7N8X v1.04

I've been encountering frequent freezes of application and mouse
navigation on my system. I've tried reinstalling Win2K Professional
and drivers, but nothing seems to fix it. Any help would be great.

Hardware:
Antec Sonata Case
AMD 2500 (Barton Core)
SDRAM 2 @ Corsair CMX256A-3200LLPT
ASUS V9520 Magic
Maxtor 80gb 7200 8mb Cache (IDE Controller 1 Master)
LG CD-RW/DVD Combo Drive (IDE Controller 2 Master)

Also looking for resources on BIOS settings for this board and
configuration.

Hi,
Can it pass couple hours of running memtest86? How big is your power
supply? How is the cooling? Is there any commonality when freezing
occurs or is it totally random? Has all the updates on your OS?
Can you run Sandra system loader(burn wizard) a few hours without freezing?

I had many freezes and strange reboots with my 1.06 board and read a
few postings here that basically said make sure your memory frequency
is set at 100% of FSB (not 'auto' or 'by SPD') otherwise you'll get
problems.....once I'd changed mine it's been happy ever since,
particularly since I also got an XP2600+ which is happily running at
2.2ghz

Get into the BIOS, then go to advanced, change memory option to be
'user defined' (it'll probably be set to 'optimal') then set the
memory timing to 100%.

No, I'm not familiar with that tool, but I'm going to give a try
today.

How big is your power supply?

380 Watts

How is the cooling?

My temperatures while running are 44C/111F.

Is there any commonality when freezing occurs or is it totally random?

It seems to be better after letting it sit for a minute or so, but not
to a great degree.

Has all the updates on your OS?

Yes, fully patched.

Can you run Sandra system loader(burn wizard) a few hours without freezing?

I will give that a try.
