Freezing XP Home Edition

Hello all, A friend has a Dell Inspiron 8100 laptop. It freezes when you
move Windows components, like moving IE toolbars and resizing windows. It
also freezes when using IE to go to Windows Update. It will not freeze when
updating from Windows Help and Support panel. It also freezes at these same
times in Safe Mode. I suspect the video controller. I have tried different
video drivers and it still acts the same. Any ideas? Thanks JP

Sounds like a hardware problem...either that or a something a component is
not getting adequate ventilation.

If it supports an external mouse try that or if your are already using an
external mouse then try replacing it as my old mouse caused a similar
problem on a desktop PC.
