Freezing mouse and keyboard

I can't figure out why my mouse and keyboard keep locking up on me for no
reason. It happens every once in a while and I don't know why. It seems to
happen too often. What is going on? I just bought this PC not long ago and
have updated it with KBs from Microsoft and HP (my PC manufacturer). Anybody
have any answers or is there a known issue currently with freezing mouse and
keyboards?

Hardware fault - like overheating CPU etc. Not an XP issue. Take for
service.
