freezing columns

I would like to freeze column "A" such that when I move
the horizontal scroll, column "A" stays in view and
columns B, C etc slide behind A. Usually I have names in
A and 20 or so columns with grades beside each name. I'd
like to scroll through the columns of grades and still see
the name of the student. How do I do this in Excel?

Select Column B. On the menu bar, Window>Freeze Panes.
