freeware like "InkSaver"

it would sure be nice if there were a freeware equivalent of inksaver...
anyone know of something similar ?

as their website says "The best way to save ink while maintaining print
quality InkSaver 2.0 allows you
to control the amount of ink used by your inkjet printer, making your ink
cartridges last longer.
Using patented software algorithms, InkSaver optimizes printer data so that
your printer uses less
ink - even when printing at your inkjet's highest resolution."

And yah, it sounds like one of those dial-800-crap scams but i hear it
actually does a decent job...

It's not freeware, it's not even software, but if you use enough ink
to be concerned (I go through a cartridge a couple of times a year),
there's at least one company (there are probably more) that sells a
modification kit for printers so that you can buy your ink in 4 ounce
bottles or quart containers (4 ounces costs just a little more than a
cartridge) and feed the printer directly from the little bottles.

If you use enough ink to be concerned.
