free up space on C

Leave 'My Documents' where it is, but move the files to an archive
folder on D. Now run Disk Cleanup, remembering to include System
Restore files in the cleanup.

Now how much free space do you have? Numbers would be good.

If there is still not too much free space, consider using a
partition manager to reduce the D partition and increase C. A
program like Easeus is very good and free if you run a 32bit OS..

Mike, you've put your finger on a particular gripe of mine. I run
64-bit Vista on two machines and am really tired of getting very
interested in some piece of software only to find that when it says
that it runs on Vista they mean 32-bit only. Sometimes you don't
learn this until you've downloaded it or bought a boxed commercial
product and tried to install it. I've even had some go through the
install and only refuse to run when you load it. This situation has
improved over the past year but there's still too much "32-bit only"
code floating around, especially in view of the number of "media" PCs
being sold with Vista 64.

This is not a criticism of MS or anyone here, I'm just blowing off
steam. Maybe if enough Vista 64 owners express their dissatisfaction
directly with the authors and vendors, they'll realize that there are
enough of us out here to comprise a significant chunk of users.

I feel like I'm in the Beatles song and finding out that nobody loves
you when you're 64 (bit).

Thank you Andrew. A concise explanation of what can and cannot be moved
- and of how to do it the right way. Exactly the information needed.
And thanks too Mike for the My documents advice.

Cool! Thanks for letting us know these suggestions helped, that's good
to know.

Cheers

A couple of MVP's here are indeed dumb morons

But you are a COMPLETE MORON and Douche Bag. A Douche Bag who doesn't even
know how to fix his computer clock. I suggest calling tech support and they
can have someone walk you through the steps to fix your clock. Don't be
afraid.

So you admitted to NOT using Vista frequently?

That makes you an hypocrticial SOB. It was you attacking people for
Ubuntu, and promoting Vista.
Ubuntu is not my interest, or any Linux anymore, but Vista does trigger
many alarms and has crippled my productivity since forced upgrade from
WndowsXP.

What productivity? All you do is post crap all day long. Who the ****
forced you to upgrade from XP?
And no matter how many times you repeat old & tired joke about Taco Bell,
Vista remains a cripple and Windows7's main motivation was to get behind
Vista's FIASCo with busienss users. Though Microsoft does profit from
home users whose little expectations and nature of work are oK even with a
cripple like Vista, losing business customers is what brought Windows7 so
soon to market.

To conclude: you've just admitted to not even using what yuou promote

I use Vista as a test environment but mostly I use XP for development.

P.S. If you write about Taco Bells again, it's not being read., go on and
waste your life on typing.

BFD. Don't read about it.

Itunes all you have to do is use the preferences, and set the location where
the files are.
Then a simple copy *.* to ?:\ would do it. with delete.
As for another program, you just use the Itunes file menu to scan again if
necessary.

Thanks for the reminder. I didn't have good luck with that program, as
well as other people, that is why someone wrote a little program to make
Itunes rescan which worked well. ..And Yes,I did figure out about the
preferences setting FINALLY.(If you move the files) I think Apple could
have made it easier as far as adding new music from say a ton of ripped
music from your other computer. (And moved/copied to the one you want
them added to.)

G'day

Thanks! I hope it is useful; I usually only post when I have something
worthwhile to add.

Ah, "Muad'dib" ... the "little hopping one" of Arrakis! Or so Stilgar
told me :) I found out, many years after reading the book, that
"muad'dib" is a genuine Arabic word, meaning "teacher"

Oh man, that is one of my most fave books/movies of all time. Thanks for
the Arabic translation. I didn't know that! Cool! Interesting, as I try
to be a teacher for some things, but am not always so great at it. My
patience these days seems too short for such things. Yep, getting older
and lacking that sort of thing. ;-)

G'day
