John;
Just a note. I recommend the Live CD as a *great* confidence-builder.
Whole damned thing boots entirely from CD to RAM. A truly prophylactic
experience.

I thought about that, but frankly my biggest concern is preserving my
data and coming up with a workable dual boot system. Actually using
Linux isn't an issue. Neither is accessing my Windows partition data
since I never upgraded to XP and am using a FAT32 file system.

Preserving my data isn't going to be a big deal because I've cloned my
hard drive to my backup drive. That backup drive can at the extreme, be
physically disconnected during the Ubuntu install.

Thanks for your answer. I am visiting with the acce4ssibility guru and
so far the only thing available for Ubuntu is Gnopernicus a Gnome
accessibility screen reader. However, they are trying to work in
Speakup and brltty at this time.

Scott ....

You're welcome ....

Hopefully, the Ubuntu packagers will have good luck
with the integration of the Speakup & brltty packages
available through Debian GNU/Linux ....

I've never used either one and only know they're available
by checking the Debian package manager after seeing
the request for them here ....
