FP2003 comes with a manual? Only got a 25pg booklet.

Exactly - You're paying for the *software*

help please
Use the online help. Software always, in my experience comes with
instructions on how to install it.

It assumes nothing will go wrong, which with my luck is not always the
case.
You're expectations are unrealistic, and you are doomed to a sorrowful
existence, wrought with despair unless you change them.

It would seem so, but that doesn't make it right.
Yes. no-manual-included is SOP, and has been for some time now. Heck,
computers don't even come with manuals anymore.

Yes.

So why not include it in the price of the software..?

In whose opinion..? Yours or the developers..?
supply them..?
Yes. 3rd party manuals have always been superior to included docs.
Software
companies are in the *software* business.
Besides, why would anybody want to pay the additional amount for crappy
docs
when they could pick docs suited to their particular abilties and
interests
instead?

installed their Netware server OS.
I think you're exaggerating.

No I'm not. 20 separate books plus a few leaflets.
Why would they?
Obviously, but I'll bet it's not your last word on the subject.

You win, but this is.

Didn't you buy this group's posting manual?

Bob Lehmann
A: Top-posting.
Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?
Q: What is the most annoying thing on Usenet and in e-mail?
A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.

It does some unpleasant things, though. I had it in and took it out because
of them. At the moment, I can't remember what they were.

Oh yes - BOTTOM POSTING! 8)

I usually just go with whatever appears to be the norm for the group I'm in.
I prefer top-posting, but I'm flexible.

But I'm paying for the product (FP2003) so why can't they supply hard copy
manuals..?

Ivor

Because then you would have to pay more?

I hate bottom posting. The only reason I do it is because I get tired of
being yelled at. I hate reading down 500 lines of >>>>>>>> things to see
some guy say "I agree". I have yet to figure out why so many are in love
with bottom posting.

If the poster takes the time to trim what they're replying to, bottom
posting is far better as it follows the flow of conversation. Top posting
is just sheer laziness for those who can't be bothered to trim and move
the cursor to the end. It's hardly rocket science.

Ivor

PS sorry to have gone so OT in such a helpful (top posting aside..!!)
group.

I'd rather pay a reasonable amount more to get proper documentation, yes.
I shouldn't *have* to, but I'm prepared to.

FWIW;
what really helped me was using two books simultaneously. one "dummies"
class but it was a "visually" series, and the other a FrontPage Inside Out
from MS Press.

I was able to get moving quickly with the "little book", then get further
depth of learning from the "big book".
