FP 2002 - Cannot set font in page properties or style

N

Nigel Jones

Help,
I want to set Arial as my default font. However,
everything I try does not work. Page properties, Style
character formatting, whatever. When I type text in normal
mode I get arial font, but as soon as I go to preview it
displays in Times New Roman. This happens even when
changes are saced. Oddly, if I go back to the text,
highlight the text, change it to any other font, then
change it back to Arial and save it again, then it
previews in Arial. However, this is a ridiculous amount of
hassle. Why can't I just get the font to default display
as Arial?

You must actually specify a font either using the font dialog or via CSS. The default font setting
only applies to how you see the font in Normal/Design View within FP.

You've misunderstood the function of the default font
settings under Tools, Options, Default Font. Those
settings configure FrontPage to use the same default font
as the browser. They doesn't configure the browser to use
the same default font as FrontPage.

To do what you want, follow the procedure at:

Controlling Fonts for an Entire Web Site

Hi,
I have been specifying the font in CSS and in the font
dialogue box. It still previews in Times New Roman. What
really confuses me is that, if I change the font AGAIN, to
any other font, in the font dialogue box, then change it
back to Arial, it will then browser-preview in Arial.
But, as I say, this is an awful lot of hassle, which
surely I should not have to go through?
Any ideas what the problem is?

If you use the font dialog, you are overriding the CSS font settings.
