Found a bug in microsoft anti-spyware

Well ever since I've installed microsoft anti-spyware I
have not tried ot install any software from CDs. Well
yesterday I tried to install Warcraft II Battle.net Edition
and it would not work, it would just freeze and the cd
would spin forever until I ejected it. Well I tried two
other games over the last two days with the same problem,
unable to install them. Well today when installing
Starcraft: Broodwar it was doing the same thing, I could
read the contents of the CD but if I clicked on setup.exe
it would just spin and freeze the drive. Well I ejected
the cd and got an error from gcastdtserv.exe and so I
googled that and noticed it was microsoft anti spyware.
After ending the process and any related process to
microsoft anti-spyware the installers all work. And its
not just Blizzard games, other games having the same problem.

My system is a custom built computer

768mb RAM
ASUS P4C800E Deluxe
4 HD's
Lite-On CD Drive
and
Sony DVD-RW Drive
both drives did the same thing, would read the directory
listings but freeze when trying to load any file

any other information needed please email me. Is it
possible to get this to the beta team so that they can look
into this problem?

The development team is aware of a bug with a specific installer. I suspect
this matches your issue. In the example I saw, the installer expands its
package, and that completes, or nearly completes, and then everything just
hangs. Right-clicking the Microsoft Antispyware icon, and shutting down the
app allows the installation to continue with normal results.

What I would do when installing new software is to scan it with anti virus.
Shut down all running applications.
When installing new software, normally a pop windows would advise the same.
Install the software and reboot.
