Outlook 2003

I have a rule that is supposed to forward messages to another e-mail
when arriving to my Inbox. This rule does not work unless I run it
manually.

Apply this rule after the message arrives
from Job Search Agent (underlined)
forward it to e-mail address (underlined)

What type of mail server?
Is the address you are forwarding to on your mailserver or remote?

Mail Server is Microsoft Exchange 2007 but it didn't work before the
changeover either. The forwarding address is outside of the corporate
server.

Changeover from what?

Regardless, Exchange does not allow automatic forwards to the Internet by
default and you'd have to talk to the Exchange admin to enable them.

Either that, or your bosses don't think you should be getting Job Search
emails at work, but it's more likely the former.

We just upgraded to MS Exchange 2007. I don't know what the previous
server was but it was Microsoft also.

Are the rules implemented by the server or the client?

The job search e-mails are from the corporate system.

Uhhh..

Let me rephrase what I said.

Exchange, by default, does not allow Outlook/OWA rules that automatically
forward a message to an Internet based address by default. So, if you configure
a rule to forward messages to an Internet address that is not housed on the
server itself, it will not work automatically. Either the setting on the
server needs to be changed or the rule needs to be run manually.

If your Exchange admin can't figure out how to allow them, he can look at
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/266166, which I believe is still the way
to do it in 2007. The OOF stuff changed a little so thats why the article,
on the whole, isn't applicable. But I might be wrong.

I think I'll refrain from joking in the future.
