Forwarded Calendar items not being saved in Calendar

P

Patrick

Using Outlook 2K, SP3

A user receives a calendar event that has been forwarded.
The user opens the event, and clicks on Save and Close,
but the event does not show up on his/her calendar.

This has worked previously but no longer works. Any ideas?

Thanks

Sue,

Thanks so much for your reply. Dragging and dropping works
however we're talking about high level executives who are
used to having things "the way they were before" which
means opening the event and then clicking on the Save and
Close button. Why is that feature not working? The only
changes made have been the weekly MS critical updates.

Thanks again,
Patrick

You get different behaviors depending on whether the item was forwarded as
an iCalendar/vCalendar item or as a native Outlook appointment.

Is the something new, where iCalendar/vCalendar items are
no longer saved to the recipients calendar?

There's nothing new about this. The items you were working with were
apparently not vCal/iCal items but native Outlook items.

Sue,

I ran a test forwarding icalendar/vcalendar entries as
well as native Outlook calendar entries. I can understand
the icalendar/vcalendar not working but the native Outlook
entry still does not save to the receipient's calendar. As
I said before, this had worked up until recently. Any
suggestions?

If the user receives a native Outlook item as an attachment, they need to
either drag it into the desired folder or open it and use the File | Copy to
Folder command. This is true for all types of items, not just appointments.
iCal and vCal should save fine to the Calendar folder with Save and Close.

My point is the Save and Close button DOES NOT work with
either iCal and vCal. Why would it not?

It should work. How do you know that you have a vCal/iCal attachment rather
than a native Outlook item? Did you save the attachment as a file?

The attachment has an .ics extension. I tried to save the
file to disk but now it won't even open. I keep getting
a "Cannot import vCalendar file." message. I can't even
open it within the email...please help.

Thanks,
Patrick

What version(s) of Outlook are involved on sender and recipient? Did you try
using the File | Import and Export wizard to import the .ics file (awkward,
but potentially useful for troubleshooting)? It might also help if you
posted the contents of the .ics file so other people can test it.
