formula for decimal point

I have a cell formatted to show 2 decimal points as 9.50.
If the figure is a whole number only as in 9
Is it possible to format so it doesnt show 9.00

This number is variable but would like if possible not to show the 2
decimal places on whole numbers.

your numbers in column A. Select the column and format the cells as
decimal. Then Conditional Formatting => New Rule => Formula to determine
=> =MOD(A1,1)=0 => Format => Numbers => General

I have set the cell to 2 decimal points under number

and this is what appears in the rule description:
="""> =MOD(A1,1)=0 => Format => Numbers => General"""

It doesnt appear to change the 9.00 to 9

Have I copy/pasted your formula correctly?
