Formula at top of excel that allows simple calculations.

I had a simple formula at the top of an Excel worksheet that would allow me,
by clicking on the unpopulated cell that I wanted the answer to appear in,
the equal sign in the formula, the populated cell, the function in the
formula, the number on the keyboard and enter. The desired answer appeared
in the first cell I clicked on. I lost the formula. Can anyone help?

Thanks,
Jerry

You have the general idea, but a little backwards.

FIRST click on the un-used cell. Then click in the formula bar near the top
of the window and type in the formula.

Then touch the ENTER key.

What is this formula supposed to calculate?

As stated:
1. Select cell A1 and type =
2. Click on a cell containing the answer you want displayed in A1
3. Press Enter.
