Formatting using double click in 2007

How do I enable the formatting of shapes & lines by double-clicking the mouse?

It seems like a step has been added to everything in the 2007 version. Ugh.

If you double click a shape or line the contextual tab Format (extreme right
of the ribbon) will appear automatically allowing you to format it the way
you want.
