formatting in mail merge

Hi,

I have a document with some merged fields (I use the mergfield function)
that draws data from an excel file.

I have 2 problems formatting the merged data. 1st all the merged data is in
bold. i cannot turn the font to regular??!? why is this? shouldn't i be able
to toggle bold in the merged fields the normal way? (from the button)

2nd I merge some numbers from the excel worksheet. although they have the
thousands separator (.) in the excell file, this dosen't apply when they are
merged in the word document. why is this? how can i make the thousands
separator (.) appear in the word document??

Thank you.

Yes, you should be able to turnoff the bold in that way. Toggle on the
field codes with Alt+F9 and add a *\charformat switch to the mergefield and
then format the m of mergefield as unbolded and see if that helps.

See "Formatting Word fields with switches" on fellow MVP Graham Mayor's
