Formatting cells copied from a website

Hello,
I have copied information from a charge card website and pasted the
information into an Excel worksheet. I have removed all formatting, but no
matter what I do, I cannot make the numbers read as currency. When I try to
use the SUM function, I get $0.00.
I know there must be formatting on the website, but I don't know how to get
rid of it so I can manipulate the data and figures in Excel.
If you can help, I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Ruth Z

Hi Ruth,

Try pasting into Excel with Paste Special and selecting Text.
If that still brings no joy, try copying a blank cell, reselect your data
in Excel and Edit>Paste Special>Add.

Just a couple of thoughts

You can try this method...........................

In Excel format all to General.

Copy an empty cell.

Select your range of "numbers" and Paste Special>Add>OK>Esc.

If no joy, you could have extraneous spaces, specifically the 0160 space.

Try David McRitchie's TRIMALL macro.

Thanks a million! I read the article and eventually I was able to solve the
problem with a "find and replace non-breaking space" command given in the
article.

Thanks, Martin. I tried your suggestions, but the issue is a non-breaking
space. I was able to resolve it using information from the article sent by
another user.
I appreciate your help. Exel can be maddening at times because I don't
really understand it all.
