Formatting a linked Excel object

I have an object in a slide linked to an excel dataset.

The problem I am experiencing is that the visible object on the ppt slide
extends across more rows and columns than I want it to - I can't seem to set
the excel rows and cells to be displayed in ppt.

It also displays the blue print area border. I have used the recolouring
trick to convert blue border to grey (but it is still too thick). I have
tried amending the print area option within excel, but that has had no effect
on what I see in the ppt slide.

I can crop the object within ppt, in the same as I would for an image, but
that is cumbersome and timely (especially across multiple linked objects).

I know there must be a simple answer - is anyone able to provide me with it
please!!

Thanks in advance

Instead of using Insert, Object, Link from w/in PPT, start in Excel.
Choose the content you want in PPT, then Ctrl+C to Copy.
Switch to PPT and choose Edit, Paste Special, check mark Link and click OK.

Now you get just the stuff you selected in Excel.
