I'm trying to format a previous drive that I was using on
my system, windows xp file system FAT 32. When I click
the format button a message says: windows cannot format
this drive. quit any disk utilities or other programs
that are using this drive, and make sure that no window
is displaying the contents of the drive, then try
formatting again.
I don't know what to do, can someone help me with this?
thank you

If you boot off your XP CD you can format it there. Otherwise, go to Google
and download Clearhdd and run it. That prog basically destroys the partition
so everything is gone to a normal partition. From there, you can use the XP
CD to set stuff up on it all over again - or boot from a floppy and do the
same.
