How do I format Word 2003 to have one space after a sentence instead of two
spaces?
Thank you for your wisdom.

You type it with one space in the first place?

You don't. You can tell grammarcheck to flag two spaces between sentences as
an error, in Tools | Options, Spelling and Grammar, click on Settings, and
it will help you fix it.

You can record a Find & Replace macro that replaces two spaces with one.

Both of these are after-the-fact fixes rather than "as you type" fixes.

Appreciate your response.
Do you mean that the default in MS word 2003 is that there will always be
two spaces after a period rather than one? That there is no way to program
in just one space automatically as a person types. I have a Tablet and the
default is one space. Also, I use NaturallySpeaking voice recognition
software and one can program one or two spaces. I want to be able to word
with all 3 programs seamlessly. I just learned that publishers accept
manuscripts with one space so I am making a conversion to the one space
format.

No, Word does not have any setting at all in this regard. It just records
what you type. When you use your voice recognition software, you can use the
one-space setting there. When you type, you'll just have to train yourself
to type only one space.
