Format changes

I transfered some data from the mainframe and opened it in Excel.
One of the Columns read: 2.1E+12, so I changed the format to Number and it
reads 2104005618440, which is correct..

Problem is: I import the Excel into Access and the field goes back to
2.1E+12...

I have done this procedure for years, never have I had the format change
back...

Please help..

It could be that your field is too narrow to display the value correctly.
Try making it wider, and see whether the display changes.

That was the first thing I did... No the field is not too small..

This Column is only 3230 lines.
I have Saved the file as .XLS and .TXT, I have even saved only this one
column and imported it, the results are: when it's in .xls the format changes
back to 2.1E+12.. And when it's in .txt the column is 100% blank.

Is this a compiling issue between Excel/txt and MS Access???
I would think MS Access would read xls without this kind of problem.

Is there no way to change the format of one column in Access to numeric, the
option is not available when importing the file, it only lets me change the
header name...

Hi Dan,

First create a table in Access with the correct column names and types.
Presumably this column will be Number (Long). Then import into that
table.
