Font Color Choices in Word 97

Yes, we're still using 97. Wanted to know if we can add font color choices
to the palette? We have a specific color we need to include in a header.

No, Word 97 was the last version that had a fixed 16-color palette for
fonts. You'll have to make do with WordArt.
