Follow-up flag color disabled for new messages (OL2003)

For 300 uses of Outlook 2003, when trying to "Flag" a new
message for follow-up, we are unable to change the color
of the flag. The option to change the color appears on
the screen but it is grayed out. You can set a flag for
new messages, but it will only use the default color for
Follow-up Flags.
I have been unable to find any info in the registry or at
Microsoft.com

Sounds like you're working in an IMAP account, which doesn't support the
color-coded flags.

Hi,

Sorry to dig up an old article, but could anyone please let me know what the alternative would be to allow me to use the coloured flags? Is there any other way around this. I can go to the 'Sent Items' folder and set the flag there, but that seems to be a bit of a pain to do each time.

I have both an exchange account and a POP3 account and I was trying to set a flag on an outgoing message created in MS Word that was to be sent via the Exchange account.

Thanks and regards,

Jeremy
