Folders

I am having a strange problem when ever I try to open My Music and My
Pictures folders, or any folders for that matter. When I left click on any
folder to try and open it, instead of actually opening the folder ie My
Music, a 'search result window' opens. Now if I right click on a folder then
I have the options to open, explore, search etc. I am running windows xp
home edition service pack 2. Any suggestions on correcting this annoying
problem. Thank you for the time and consideration.
