Folders Opening to "Search"

All of a sudden, my folders have started opening up to "search". How can I change the way they open back to the contents itself instead of the "search" avenue?

I have folders on my desktop, for instance. When I click on one to view it, it opens to the search format, with the little dog and all wanting to know what I am searching for.
It is weird!
It's the same as when you go to the start menu and click on "search" to search for a file or document.

I went to folder options and to view but that didn't work.

it just seems to revert to the "search" format when I click on them. If I right click, "search" is at the top in bold letters, then "open" under it.
If I click on "open" it opens correctly. But, those are a lot of steps when I could just give it one click before and I always forget to do it so it is very frustrating.

This is a bug in the File Types dialog.

Click [Start] [Run] and type "REGSVR32 /i SHELL32"

Altering the "File Folder" settings via UI [or an WindowsUpdate hotfix] causes this problem.
