folder view settings

I am wanting to make windows explorer automatically show
the folders pannel on the left hand side when I open a
windows explorer window.
Surely there is a setting that defaults to this view
instead of the useles current default view.

Thanks

Display a folder the way you like. Go to tools|folder options|view tab.
Click 'apply to all folders'.

But that only sets how the files within the window look
(tiles, icons, thumbnails etc) and doesn't set what comes
up on the left of the window. It still has the useles
links to my documents and file and folder tasks.

I want it to default to having the "folders" pannel on the
left instead.

Any ideas?

?

Hello Paximus,

In Explorer - on the menu-bar | Tools | Folder Options |
/General\, Under "Tasks",
(*) "Use Windows Classic Folders"

To get the "Folder" bar, I suggest that you create/modify
a shortcut so that the "Target:" points to

%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e,C:\path-to-folder-of-choice
