Folder Text Color

In Explorer I noticed that a folder

C:\Users\myname\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail

the name text is a different color than the rest of the folders. The other
folder the fore color is black and for this folder it's blue.

Any ideas why this is so?

Black is normal, blue is compressed and green is encrypted.
Windows automatically compresses files that do not get used
frequently.
You can alter this if desired in Windows Explorer-Tools-Folder
Options-View - "Show encrypted or compressed NTFS files in color"

This is an Encrypted folder, most likely.

In WinExplorer goto:
Tools-->Folders Options-->View-->scroll down to "view encrypted NTFS
folders in color".
If that option is checked, what you see is probably blue font.'
Normally system encrypts it, some users may manually.

It is also possible some application other than Windows, does its own
coloring for its own folders, but HIGHLY unlikely in this case.
Most likely Windows encrypted your folder if you're running in multiple
users environment, so others can't access your messages.

P.S. Well people like me can access whatever, but normal users can't.

P.S. So you are correct in saying that you are abnormal. Good for you. You
are on the right step to recovery.

That's what it was, it was compressed.
I didn't set this folder to compressed.
Is there a program that changes folders to compressed?
Otherwise I have to blame the cat, again.

I'll post to Windows Live Mail ng see if they have an answer.

Thanks much,
James

By design, WinXP automatically compresses files that do not get used
frequently, and, if you've left the default settings intact, displays
those files in blue. Encrypted files show as green. If you wish to
change this behavior, in Windows Explorer, click Tools > Folder Options
View > Advanced settings: Show encrypted or compressed NTFS files in
color.
