For some reason on the left side of my screen from top to bottom I have
Folder Task how do I close it or get rid of it?

Try the following.

Go to Start -> Run and enter this command in the Open box.

regsvr32 /i shell32

Click OK.

If that doesn't solve the problem, download and run the
registry fix available at this web site.

In Windows Explorer select View, Explorer Bar and click on Folders.
