Folder list on left when opening or saving

On XP Pro I used to have it set up so that when I opened or saved a file
(regardless of the program being used) it would show the folder list on
the left side of the open/save file window (like in Windows Explorer when
you do a folder list in the left pane). Now, it only shows certain
groupings like My Documents, My Computer, My Network, etc. in the left
pane. How do I get folders back?

It's called the Places bar.

Places bar
[[Provides shortcuts to places on your computer or the network from which
you can open a file, such as the History folder, the desktop, or My Network
Places. When you click a location, it will appear in Look in, and the files
and folders in the selected location will be listed at the right.]]

Use TweakUI, Edit the registry or use System Policy Editor. Or if Office
XP, scroll down.

Yeh, I found a lot of information about Places Bar. I've tried the Tweak
UI and various reg. edits and Group policy changes, but nothing seems to
do what I want to do. In fact, I'm now beginning to believe what I thought
was possible, isn't. What I want is so that like in Windows Explorer where
you have a file listing in left-hand pane, so to when opening and saving
files.

Looking through the various info that you have sent I also don't see that
very solution.

Could you please help me out?

Hi Curtis,

I am not sure what you're after. You can have five shortcuts in the Places
Bar. You can customize those five to ones that you use most often. You
cannot have a tree view like Windows Explorer that you can scroll through.

Which is exactly what I thought. I did want a tree view though. Thanks for
confirming what I thought was, in fact, the case.
