Folder Attributes - Unable to change

In XP I had my music collection on a seperate hard drive to the main system
disk. Before installing Vista HP, I disconnected the drive before
reconnecting it once the installation was complete. Now, whilst I can access
the music files, I cannot rip any more to the Music folder on the drive. I
looked at the Folder Attributes and they were set as Read Only but even if I
click this off, I cannot change the setting because when I close the
Properties window, it reverts back to Read Only.

Any ideas?

Turn off Access Control. This is what causes more problems except for Adobe
which requires it to run to install the PDF reader.

As for the attributes on the folders, I have tried but no good. It seems to
be just another Vista "feature"

The read-only attribute on a folder has no effect on your ability to
save/create files & folders. It just tells Windows to process the
desktop.ini file found within the folder.

The problem you're experiencing most likely deals with permissions.
Right-click on the drive icon, open the 'Properties' dialog, and select the
'Security' tab. Hi-lite 'Users', click 'Edit', and check 'Full Control' and
Apply.
