Folder Access

Matthew Storman

I have 4 shared folders - software, marketing, sales,
it. I setup a hidden share datafiles$. And gave
permission to everyone and users in the permissions tab
and security tab. When i try connecting to the
datafiles$ folder it prompts me to enter a password, just
like the existing folders. How can I make the datafiles$
share not require a password?

Thank you for all the help

Of course you'd also have to keep the passwords on the accounts in sync
between the machines.
If there's a domain controller available to you, things would be much easier
since the accounts would live there and user accounts would be joined to
that domain.

Create user accounts on the computer with the shares that have the
same logon name/password as those users trying to access the shares, or try
enabling the guest account on that server if you do not mind the reduced
level of security [which may be acceptable in a small network of trusted
users if internet access is firewall protected]. ---Steve
