Focusing with Microtek 120tf scanner?

K

Karl Winkler

I'm trying to find a way to focus this scanner a little better and
wondered if any of you had ideas. There doesn't seem to be any mention
of focus in the manuals for the scanner, or Lasersoft's documentation
for the Silverfast software.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Dear Mr Winkler

SilverFast usually adjusts itself to the technical possibilities
offered by the scanning hardware and command set of the given scanner.

As you will already know from the Microtek specs for the scanner
(cf. http://www.microtek.nl/Product.php?ThisPage=Scanner&Product=Detail&P_Id=92
or in German: http://202.39.72.2/German/Web/Product.php?ThisPage=Scanner&Product=Detail&P_Id=92#Spec
) the Microtek Artixscan 120tf achieves optimal results due to its
autofocussing technology.
So, for the time being there is only the possibility to enable or
disable the auto-focussing of the 120tf from within SilverFast.

However, if possible future command sets (e.g. because of a firmware
upgrade) would enable the user to set the focus to any specific value,
it is likely that such a feature will be implemented in the SilverFast
software.

Thank you for the information. One thing I noticed that I thought
might be helpful to add to the software (if it can be supported by the
hardware) is to be able to move the point of focus.

Hopefully, Microtek will be upgrading the firmware at some point.
