Floppy Drive is unkown

My floppy drive works fine, because i tried booting the computer
with a boot disk inside the floppy drive when i restarted my comp
and it booted off the floppy fine. My bios setting is on auto so it detects my
Floppy drive fine, but in Windows XP Pro, it doesn't recognize my floppy
drive. When i check the device manager, it is a yellow questions mark, saying its
an unkown device. I can't install any drivers because there are no drivers for
floppies, Windows XP Pro is just suppose to recognize it.

Hi there,

Try deleting filters from registry, download patch from here:
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts/xp_cd_dvd_fix.vbs

Usage: Download the file to your computer and simply double-click it so that it would automatically get installed. Norton anti-virus software might warn you of a "malicious" script, this is normal if you have "Script Safe" or similar technology enabled. I recommend you to choose "Authorize entire script" option next Action.

Just a thought, my bios has a setting to "hide floopy disk from OS".
Check if your's does too. Turn it off.
