No, When BIOS settings Default(ed) the sequencing for boot devices
usually has the Floppy drive checked before Optical or hard drives.
The error you noted earlier indicates the BIOS processing attempted
to locate and scan a floppy for bootable media.
Either the battery is weak or some other issue caused the personalized
BIOS settings to be lost. Setting/Configuring BIOS isn't difficult but it
takes a little knowledge/experience to know what values to use.

This is a hardware/BIOS issue, not an XP OS issue. You would be better off
posting to a hardware newsgroup, and give more information such as the
make/model of the computer. Have you contacted the computer tech support
for assistance if it's still under warranty?

As the machine starts up, invoke the BIOS setup command (how depends on the
machine).

Find the boot sequence parameter and do whatever is necessary to remove the
floppy drive from the list of places from which the bios attempts to boot.

Means the PC can't find a floppy drive...
If you don't have a floppy drive, enter the bios setup and disable the
floppy drive. If you have HP/Dell/Compaq without a floppy drive, this ain't
right. If this is a custom PC, the bios setup settings may be customized as
well.
