Flash Player help

Guest

I would like help troubleshooting the problem I have with Flash. It used to
work well before the XP SP2 DL I did. When I go to a website e.g. ( MTV.com
or Chevrolet.com/ SS trailblazer ) I cannot view them please help me. The mtv
site will same "Done with errors" in the taskbar area. The error message says
" Problems with this web page might prevent it from being displayed properly"
In the lower area of the error message box there is Line:30
Char:2
Error:
Object expected
Code: 0

That is with the MTV website the Chevrolet web site just gives me a link to
download flash player 7 Thanks again

I noticed that your first link fixed my Flash player then when I went to
MTV.com the error box came up again. I have Microsoft Antispyware installed
if that is the one you were asking me about.

I had Norton Anti-Virus 2002 - I unistalled it because it would no longer let
me run a full system scan. My issue seems unusual , I 've read all the posts
here reguarding flash player troubles and none of the responses have helped
my comp. If you can stick with me on solving this problem I'd really
appreciate it.

Have you updated to the current version of Flash Player to see if that
clears up the problem?

My issue seems unusual

Well, you're not alone:
http://groups-beta.google.com/group...+Line:30+Char:2&rnum=2&hl=en#ac1aa558ecd2239a
(Feb-05).
I had Norton Anti-Virus 2002 - I uninstalled it

And with what anti-virus application have you replaced NAV 2002?

Norton products are notorious for not uninstalling cleanly. Some remnant of
NAV 2002 (i.e., Script Blocking) may be interfering & causing the problem
(and may be causing your current AV app not to function properly). Try
using this Symantec Removal Utility & rebooting:
http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/nav.nsf/docid/2001092114452606

Have you run a /thorough/ check for hijackware?

When all else fails, HijackThis v1.99.1

It will help you to both identify and remove any hijackware/spyware. **Post

Tom
Thanks Tom this would explain it best ---->My Internet Explorer is not working properly on certain URLs. For example
any URL that has Flash it will give me an error. I have tried to uninstall
and reinstall Flash players multiple times. I even use the uninstaller
program from Macromedia's URL and to uninstall it and download the player
separetly and still does not work. If the url that has flash require to
display the website normally it has a link to go the macromedia's url to
install the macromedia active x. I click yes to install and it says it
installed successfully. Then i go back to the URL and it has the same
problem. I even close IE and reopen the IE to that website and it has the
same problem. I even restarted the whole pc and it did the same thing. I
went to www.mtv.com. This the error message it gives me:

Line: 30
Char: 2
Error: Object expected
Code: 0
URL: http://www.mtv.com

That would be error message. On the website itself it says that Flash Plugin
is required. Click to download and install it and nothing happens. It is a
fustrating experience.

I am now relying on Windows Malious software remover and I go to the Norton
website for a free scan.
I have tried all your sites that you linked and still no Flash .

Please include all of previous message(s) in your replies.

1. Get yourself an AV app installed, pronto!! But not till you've run the
Rna2003 utility cited earlier.

If cost is a factor, AVG and Avast both offer free ones.

2. Only after taking care of #1, run a /thorough/ check for hijackware &
Trojans.

I have downloaded the free AV app you mentioned. My comp is clean from
viruses but I did find a trojan and the PSP adwares in my comp . Limewire &
Kazaa . I need the Limewire though. E-trust pet scan was great it found items
that not even ad-aware could find!

One thing that may be a hint to my problem is that the KILLBIT thing seems
to always be there even though I delete it as instructed by the other people
helping out on other posts. Could that be were my problem may lie ? Could
reinstalling IE solve all of this also ? Thanks PA Bear for sticking with
this issue of mine. Rogelio.

P

PA Bear

The Flash "killbit" is usually found in the right-hand pane of this Registry
key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\ActiveXCompatibility\{D27CDB6E-AE6D-11CF-96B8-44455
3540000}

Important! =>

1. If you're not running Limewire v4.8, replace your current version with
it. Earlier versions give you hidden, "drive by" installs of hijackware.

2a. After doing so, run, in order, CWShredder v2.15 (choose Fix, not Scan)
and Ad-aware SE v1.06 (fully updated; fix anything found).

2b. Optional: Scan with Spybot v1.4 (fully updated; fix anything listed in
red).

3. Post your HijackThis log to an appropriate forum (**not here**) for
review by an expert.

Until an expert gives your HijackThis log the "all clear", you can't be
certain the machine is hijackware/Trojanware-free.

Your new AV app should be configured to:

- Seek and install updated definitions automatically & daily, at a time when
the machine's usually running and connected to the 'net;

- Run a full system scan a few minutes after seeking/installing updates,
also daily.

PA Bear could I assume that I will never have Flash again . I have followed
all of your recommendations. Where does that leave me now. Is there anything
that I can do ? Is the support forum of Macromedia inferior to this forum ?
Thanks again Rogelio

I have a blank line there.

Use View Source (Alt-V,c) and tell us what you have there.

Hint: XP's Notepad has a Status bar which can show you line
and column position when Word Wrap is off.

Are you using any packages which might try to alter scripting
(such as an ad scraper)?

even find . Thanks again PA bear for your help.

I had Norton Anti-Virus 2002 - I uninstalled it

And with what anti-virus application have you replaced NAV
2002?

Norton products are notorious for not uninstalling cleanly.
Some remnant of NAV 2002 (i.e., Script Blocking) may be
interfering & causing the problem (and may be causing your
current AV app not to function properly). Try using this
Symantec Removal Utility & rebooting:

Have you run a /thorough/ check for hijackware?

When all else fails, HijackThis v1.99.1
(http://aumha.net/downloads/hijackthis.zip) is the preferred
tool to use. It will help you to both identify and remove any
hijackware/spyware. **Post your log to

No, I was referring specifically to SpywareBlaster
(http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html) and
MVP Eric Howes' IE-SpyAd
(https://netfiles.uiuc.edu/ehowes/www/resource.htm).

Have you a Norton or McAfee application installed?
