FixIt from AvanQuest - Data Execution Prevention - Microsoft Windows

I was trying to install 'FixIt' Express version 7.113 from AvanQuest
and the following message was displayed:

'To help protect your computer, Windows has closed this program.
Name: Windows Installer
Publisher: Microsoft Corporation

Data Execution Prevention helps protect against damage from viruses
and other security threats. What should I do (underlined link)'

I have never seen a message like this and FixIt is supposedly a
reputable program.

All assistance is appreciated.

disable dep. in your boot.ini add /noexecute=AlwaysOff and delete the old
/noexecute
dep is a pain in the a$$. 95% of my corpate calls were dep till i made a
policy of disabling it. what is is suppose to do has already been broke.

If you are using the recommended security settings and your antivirus
software did not detect a threat, your computer is probably not under attack.
It's better to see if a DEP-compatible version of the program is available,
visit the software publisher's Web site. If you turn off Data Execution
Prevention (DEP) for a specific program, it might become vulnerable to
attack.

To turn off DEP for a particular program:
1. You must be logged on as an administrator or a member of the
Administrators group in order to complete this procedure. If your computer is
connected to a network, network policy settings might also prevent you from
completing this procedure.
2. To open System Properties, click Start, click Control Panel, and then
double-click System.
3. Click the Advanced tab and, under Performance, click Settings.
4. Click the Data Execution Prevention tab.
5. In the Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select
list, do one of the following:
To turn off DEP for a program, select the check box next to the program name
and click OK. (If the name of the program doesn't appear in the list, click
Add, navigate to your Program Files folder, select the program's executable
file which will have an .exe file extension, and click OK).

To turn on DEP for a program, clear the check box next to the program name,
and then click OK.

What can be so different about this particular software that it raises
the flag?
I have been using (and installing software) on this particular
computer for 6 years and have never seen this message.
Perhaps the FixIt s/w should not actually be installed?

I am now running Fix-It Pro 9.0.3.3. Have been using Fix-It for years, back
to Fix-It 4. Have not had problems installing any of the versions.

My boot.ini has: /noexecute=optin /fastdetect - if that means anything.

Hmmm.
I was trying to install FixIt within a 'Sandboxie' environment.
I am now wondering whether the dep message was caused by Sandboxie or
FixIt.

try running sandboxie by itself, to see if the error pops back up. This
could also be a sign of OS corruption.
