Fixed width file import

I'm needing to import text files that have fixed field widths. Is there a
way to make access remember the field widths without using VB? I'm still
pretty new to access and I'm teaching myself so I need the easiest way
possible.

Use the Text Import Wizard, which is invoked by menu items File -> Get
External Data -> Import..., and choosing Files of Type: Text Files in
the import dialog. Before clicking Finish in the wizard, click the
Advanced... button, then, in the Import Specification dialog, click Save
As.... That will let you save the current specification under a name
you choose, so you can invoke it in later imports by clicking the
Specs... button and choosing your saved specification.
