First Time Networking

if you intend to share the internet then i would suggest taking back
the hub and getting some sort of small router with a built in 4-port
switch...the router will handle DHCP (distributing the IP addresses)
for you and the switch will allow you to connect to same device

good luck!!!!!!

I intend to network two workstations in my home. I have DSL & recently
purchased a Netgear Ethernet Hub 10BaseT (4)RJ-45. On one system I have
WindowsXP Home edition & the other Windows 98. I have been told that I
must have two like OS's in order to network the two. Is that
information correct? I already have the Network Cards installed
(Realtek RTL8139 Family PCI Fast Ethernet NIC).

I'm hoping that after I get the HUB this will be a relatively painless
project.

Any suggestions would be appreciated . . .

If I decide to go wireless, do all wireless routers require an
additional card?

Thanks,

If the router has a switch incorporated in it (usually a 4 port), a wired
connection is an option.
