First contact not selected when navigating to Contacts

When I navigate to Contacts, the first contact should be selected
(highlighted) so that I can start typing a contact name to jump to. It works
correctly on some computers in the office, but on at least two, I have to
click on the first contact to highlight it.

Is this controlled by a setting/registry entry? I have looked through
tools/options and have found nothing that looks relevant.

All computers are XP Pro using Outlook 2003 and Office 2003 with Exchange on
a 2003 Server.

Thank you.

As I recall, this is a persistent bug that arises when you use the Outlook
Today home page. Turn it off.
