Firewall, NAT and UDP

O

Ondrej Sevecek

Hello,
when I have stateful inspection firewall (such as ICF on XP) or NAT - what
are methods to allow UDP traffic go through such a machine?
1) Internet Connection Sharing NAT - does it allow UDP traffic such as DNS
queries to pass through without the use of built in DNS Proxy - use of some
DNS server on public network? And if yes, what is the method to determine
UDP connection established from inside?
2) ICF or some other firewall - the same question.

Ondra.

It will not let the DNS queries go to public network unless it is configured
to do so. Setting InBound/OutBound Filters might help you.
