firefox cache directory

To my knowledge, one pc magz suggested to route cache directory by using 'about:config'. However, after closing firefox and restart the program, the default path `/root/.mozilla/firefox/hw53y6hy.default/cache` stays intact. Why?...What is an alternative way to modify its default destination? thx.
