finding the recycle bin directory on my computer

How do I find the recycle bin directory on my computer? I've been having
problems with my recycle bin and when I type C:\recycled or C:\recycler
nothing shows up. Does that mean the directory is not on my computer?

When I put files in my recycle bin they disappear for good. They don't show
up in the recycle bin at all. Although the icon shows that there are files
in the recycle bin, so when I empty the recycle bin to see what happens it
says that they are 61 files in the recycle bin. So if I empty the recycle
bin the icon still shows that are files in the recycle bin and if I empty it
again it still says there are 61 files. What's going on?

Hi
I am also experiencing the same problem as the original Questioner, (files
not showing in the recycle bin although they are there), and yes, I am able
to say that I DO have Norton Antivirus installed and that my problem started
straight after renewing my subscription to Symantec and downloading an
upgraded version of Norton Internet Security.
Norton's support desk was regretably less than helpful and told me it was
nothing to do with Norton, but I think it was, as several other problems
occured at the same time, including Internet Explorer not opening, which I
have now fixed, (although I still have problems opening certain web sites).

I have spent an hour trawling through all the info on the recycle bin in
this newsgroup, and notice that the problem seems to be quite common. It
would be interesting to know how many of the people with the problem have
Norton installed?

The mystery of the disappearing deleted files.

Thanks very much but the solutions on both the websites that Torgeir Bakke
suggested were not usable for me.
The instuctions were as follows:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On the Windows desktop, right-click the Recycle Bin icon, and then click
Properties.
On the Global tab, click Use One Setting for All Drives.
On the Recycle Bin tab, select Standard Recycle Bin.
In the Title field, type the following:
Recycle Bin
On the Norton Protection tab, select a drive and uncheck Enable Protection.
Repeat this step for each drive.
Select Also Empty Protected Files.
Click OK, and then click OK again.
Reboot the computer.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Unfortunately when I right click the recycle bin icon, I only get one tab,
the Global one, there is no Recycle Bin tab or Norton Protection tab.

The other website suggested navigating to Norton utilities, but there was no
sign of Norton Utilities in my Programme files, just Norton Internet security
(which did not contain Utilities) and Norton Password manager.

If any Sherlock Holmes or Hercule Poirot has any clues for where to find the
missing items or better still, how to solve the mystery, I would be grateful.

Thanks
