finding fonts

Hello,
I am trying to find a font to use for a project I am working on. I searched
through many online font websites and found the font I was looking for,
Antique Olive Nord. I was surprised however when I found out that I had to
pay for these fonts. Does anyone know of anywhere online where I can download
this font for free.

Why surprised? Font files are the copyright property of the people who
created them. Typeface *designs* are not copyright, so you get a lot of
clones of popular designs, but the people who created those generally want
to get paid for their work too. You sometimes find sites that offer
mainstream fonts for free download, but it is explicit piracy.

Typeface *names* are often controlled also (registered as trade marks,
although it's not obvious what trade they mark); so you can find versions of
the same design under different names. Antique Olive is also available as
Incised 901; but still not free.

As with most things, you get what you pay for. Free fonts are usually not
worth the trouble for serious purposes: no hinting, missing glyphs,
disintegrate at large sizes, etc, etc.

Antique Olive sometimes shows up in the collections of fonts included with
graphics collections (such as Corel Gallery) -- so you might get lucky by
trawling the software CDs at garage sales.

Antique Olive is also a resident font in many HP LaserJets and consequently
supplied in TT format as part of the installation software.
