Finding File

I thought it would be quite simple. In an Access database application I'm
creating, I want to make it easy for users to find and display a specific
..BMP file. My thought was that I could create a list box that would display
the names of all the .BMP files on the user's computer from which the user
could select the one to display.

I've found that there's no easy way, perhaps no way, from within Access to
create a list of files that match a specification such as *.BMP. The Dir
function provides a way to look for files within a specific folder and its
subfolders, but runs out of memory when used from the root folder or a
folder that has an extensive tree of subfolders.

Any suggestions?
